Craig County Undersheriff Tony Chenoweth joined Sheriff Heath Winfrey’s administration in January 2017, to serve as the undersheriff.
His law enforcement career includes serving with the Vinita Police Department for more than 20 years, including 18-1/2 years as the Lt. Detective before his retirement in June 2015.
He returned to law enforcement to serve under Sheriff Heath Winfrey in order to continue being a community servant.
“I have a desire to serve those residing throughout Craig County,” Chenoweth said.
A life-long resident of Craig County, Chenoweth has been married 34 years and has two sons, one daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren. A life-long member of the Welch Christian Church, Chenoweth has served on the Welch Volunteer Fire Department for 30-plus years. He is a 1980 graduate of Welch High School.
“My favorite thing to do is to spend time with the grandkids, especially watching them play sports,” Chenoweth said.
